IO1 – Health Literacy Toolkit of Resources

The Health Literacy Toolkit of Resources aims to foster Health Literacy skills, competences and attitudes in the daily life of young people, by facilitate access to audio-visual health information and improve their availability, while providing embedded learning opportunities.

It is possible to refer that the range of available information nowadays has never broader, due to the tremendously advances in technology and digitalisation. However, the increased amount of information does not necessarily mean that it could be used, because the variety of information also lead to confusion, especially for low literate population. In addition, much of the information is hard to understand, and in many cases is even qualitatively questionable or contradictory. Therefore, the Health Literacy of Resources will have engaging and easy-to-use educational elements, in order to ensure that the reader really understands how to proceed after they have read, watched or listened to it. Our materials will contain information in images, short texts in simple language or short-spoken texts.

IO2 – In-Service Training Programme

The Health Without Borders In-Service Training Programme aims to: (a) present the educational resources on health literacy developed in the project; (b) better understand the principles of health literacy; (c) understand the importance of a cohesive communication strategy while working on health literacy with marginalised youth; (c) understand the principles and benefits of embedded learning environments with youth; (d) understand the principles and benefits of using comics, storytelling and gamification strategies while working with marginalised youth.

The In-Service Training Programme will be targeted to youth workers, social work specialists and non-formal educators. The programme is divided in four modules:

  • Health Without Borders Health Literacy Toolkit of Resources: implementation and assessment strategies.
  • The importance of a clear communication strategy in health literacy programmes with young migrants, refugees and marginalised young people.
  • The benefits of Embedded Learning Environments.
  • The benefits of Comics, Storytelling and Gamification in educational interventions with young migrants, refugees and marginalised young people.

IO3 – Online Portal

The main objective of the Online Portal is to provide a multilingual and online interactive platform to enable the full access to the educational resources developed throughout the project, for the target-audiences and stakeholders. The specific objectives of the e-learning portal are:

Enable the access to all educational materials of the project in modular, bite-sized units, according to the target-group specific learning needs.

Establish a Health Literacy Repository, which will selectively disseminate projects and instruments that configure good practices in health education and literacy in the countries of the consortium.

Facilitate peer-to-peer learning through a collaborative platform.

Ensure full compatibility in all electronic devices (e.g. computer, smartphone or tablets) so that the Portal can easily be accessed – regardless of users’ geographical location.
